About
Welcome to The Krill Collective - a small but mighty merch project dedicated to one of the ocean’s most important (and pun-worthy) creatures: krill.
This project grew out of my long-standing love for Antarctic krill and a desire to share that love through playful, wearable designs. As a polar marine ecologist, I’ve spent years studying krill and the ecosystems they support — and along the way, I’ve come to appreciate the power of science communication, creativity, and community.
Here you’ll find pun-filled t-shirts, a somewhat retro style, and a growing collection of krill-inspired apparel made with heart, humor, and purpose.
My goal in each of these designs - apart from making myself chuckle out loud - is to celebrate the delightfully charismatic krill, filtered through pop culture, nerdy joy, and a little academic mischief.
Everything is made-to-order through eco-conscious print-on-demand - so there’s no waste, no overstock, and no pressure. Just what you want, when you want it.
Why The Krill Collective?
Because krill are tiny, mysterious, crucial, and kind of badass.
Because they hold up ocean ecosystems around the world.
Because if you're going to support science, it might as well make you smile.
Where your money goes:
This is a small personal project, and any proceeds will first go toward covering basic setup and running costs. If it gains traction (which would be amazing!), I’d love to use future profits to:
- Support creative outreach and education about krill and polar ecosystems
- Provide small project or travel support to early-career krill researchers
- Help fund a krill-themed book that brings these extraordinary animals to wider audiences
And yes — I’m launching just in time for World Krill Day (August 11). Because what better time to celebrate krill?
Thanks for being part of the swarm. 🦐
